In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, sugar, and margarine; beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg; blend well. Add flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 7–11 minutes or until light golden brown.
Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheets.
