Pepperoni Meatza

Ingredients

  • 1½ lb ground round
  • 1 tbsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 (3-or-4-oz) pkg pepperoni slices
  • *Fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Using your hands, gently mix ground beef, Italian seasoning, garlic, salt and pepper; divide mixture in half. Press meat mixture into two 9″ round cake pans, pressing evenly to edges.
  3. Bake 15 minutes.
  4. Using a wide spatula, remove each baked meat crust to a baking sheet. Spread a thin layer of pasta sauce onto each meat crust. Add cheese and desired amount of pepperoni.
  5. Return to oven and bake 2–3 minutes longer.
  6. Sprinkle with basil, if desired; cut into wedges.
