Apple Dumplings

Ingredients

Dumplings:
  • 8 apples, peeled and cored
  • 3–4 pie crusts
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • *½ cup pecans, chopped
  • ½ cup sugar
Sauce:
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix the dumpling ingredients of cinnamon, pecans, and sugar together in a small bowl.
  3. Cut pie crusts into circles large enough to wrap around each apple. Place 1 apple onto 1 pie crust circle; fill core with 1 tbsp of dumplings mixture. Bring the edges of the crust up around the apple and press them together to seal. Place in a 9″x13″ baking dish with sealed side down.
  4. Combine sauce ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil 1 minute, whisking constantly. Pour over apples.
  5. Bake 30–40 minutes or until crust begins to brown.
